Working Groups
The Brazil Study Group (BSG), funded by the Tinker Foundation, was charged in 2005 to create informed discussion around Brazilian prospects for reform and economic growth, institutional consolidation, and Brazil's role in the expanding global economy. In a joint program with Columbia University's Center for Brazilian Studies, BSG hosts political and economic analysts, academics, business leaders, and major political figures.The Council of the Americas launched the Energy Action Group (EAG) in September 2004 to work toward energy cooperation and understanding in the Western Hemisphere. The Group works to identify financial, macroeconomic, industry and business specific issues of concern and solutions.
Funded by the Rockefeller Foundation, the Americas Society and Council of the Americas (AS/COA) Hispanic Integration Initiative will engage the U.S. and international business communities and mobilize a new generation of business leaders in the integration of recent Latin American immigrants.
The North American Business Committee (NABC) is the oldest private sector business organization with a focus on economic, commercial, and political relations in North America.
The U.S., Canada, and Mexico launched the North American Competitiveness Council (NACC), a partnership between the government and business executives from the three countries with the goal of boosting North American competitiveness. COA and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce jointly serve as the secretariat for the United States.
The Rule of Law Working Group brings together leaders across a variety of sectors to develop an agenda for improving the rule of law in the Americas.
The Council of the Americas launched the Trade Advisory Group (TAG) in 2004, consisting of the leading experts on trade policy from our member companies. It provides guidance to the Council on trade and investment related issues, and takes part in exclusive dialogues with relevant U.S. Government and Latin American officials.
